Southern X-Ray Clinics (SXC)
Southern X-Ray Clinics was founded in 1919 by Dr Valentine McDowall, an Australian pioneer of diagnostic radiology. From a simple solo practice providing General Radiology, SXC has grown into a highly experienced team consisting of over 30 radiologists, backed by a skilled team of technical and administrative staff.
The group's commitment to excellence in Radiology is backed by our team of experienced Radiologists and by a program dedicated to continual upgrading of our imaging equipment to provide the latest in advanced imaging techniques.
SIGL introduced the first multi-slice spiral CT to Queensland, installed the first private PET scanner in Australia, and has pioneered many sophisticated radiological interventional techniques.
The Group has a strong commitment to regional and provincial areas with comprehensive practices providing CT, Ultrasound and Plain Films Radiological services at Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Gympie, Nambour, Caboolture and Caboolture Hospital. Our Maryborough, Nambour and Caboolture Hospital branches also provide Nuclear Medicine radiological services.
Clarke and Robertson joined SIGL in April 2001. It is the largest private radiology practice in Ipswich and has practices in the Centenary suburbs (West Brisbane).
Our mission is to serve our community by:
-
Providing effective and caring diagnostic imaging to our patients.
-
Improving our service by continuing education, staff development and research.
-
Being responsive to the changing needs of our patients and referring doctors.
-
Providing an efficient and cost effective service, while maintaining profitability in a fair and ethical manner.
Philosophy
Patients coming to the Group for radiological examinations, whether as outpatients or inpatients, are entitled to a high degree of service and safety as well as a sensitive understanding of human needs.
Services are available to patients on equal terms regardless of their socio-economic circumstances, educational status, ethnicity, race or creed. The Group is sensitive to different cultural needs. The environment is conducive to efficient productivity to provide a ready access to services and an accurate reporting service with minimum delay.
COMPANY OVERVIEW
In recent times, the Australian healthcare industry has presented a dynamic and challenging environment. Southern X-Ray Clinics was one of the first radiology groups to take on a "corporate partner" to meet the challenges head on.
I-MED Ltd was established in August 2000 to develop a national network of leading radiology practices in metropolitan and regional Australia. Today it is Australia's largest medical imaging company with more than 270 clinics covering all of the Australian states.
The philosophy of Groups within the I-MED network may be summarised as Radiologists who wish to control their clinical independence and to work in a collegiate environment committed to Best Practice.
This membership has allowed SIGL to benchmark its performance against other Australian radiology practices, interchange ideas regarding IT and practice management systems, review and assess new equipment in other practices and engage in interpractice post-graduate programmes.
